A one-of-a-kind, vintage patchwork godhari quilt that was handsewn using a traditional kantha stitch and recycled sari fabric. Thought to have been constructed in the 1970s.

Story

Quilt-making in India is an ancient ritual that dates back more than 4,000 years. Usually sewn by women, and constructed by layering used textile remnants including old clothing, they were an important part of a bride's dowry and often rich with symbolism. Kantha embroidery is a simple running stitch, that is used to hold the layers of fabric together.

We suggest hanging this quilt outside to freshen before washing. You can also wash it minimally by hand and with a mild liquid detergent. Do not hoover, dry clean or tumble dry.
