A collection of five individual Guacamayas baskets that come together to create a striking wall display. Four of the baskets are the same design, and there is one of a contrasting variation. They were handwoven from fique (a natural plant fibre) by members of a cooperative in Boyacá, Colombia using an ancient coil technique.

Story

Guacamayas are colourful spiral weave baskets that were used by the indigenous Laches in Colombia to collect and transport eggs and grains, and for special cultural and spiritual ceremonies. They are made from local plant fibres including fique and palm tree leaves. The weaving of guacamayas is a protected craft and one that is passed from generation to generation.
